Hyundai has this really cool technology called Blue Link, and it syncs your vehicle up with your smartphone (or even smartwatch!) and does almost everything for you. It monitors your vehicle’s mechanical well-being (tire pressure, oil level), it tracks your car if it’s stolen, it has a speed alert for tracking how fast your teen driver is going – you know, standard stuff for a super-advanced car!
However, it’s not these safety features that grab my attention. It’s the streaming capability of the Blue Link that I’m eager to try! Here’s why: When I’ve had a particularly hard day, I have a ‘happy song’ list on my iPhone. In the past, I’ve had to resort to headphones or to hear my songs through the phone speakers while driving. No bueno. But with Blue Link, a quick push of the button and my music is streaming through my Hyundai’s premium sound system. Maravilloso!
So, you’re ready for those happy songs for a bad day? Here are some of the songs on my playlist that turn my gray skies blue!
“Come On Eileen” by Dexy’s Midnight Runners
Somehow, I know all the words to this song. I have no idea how it happened but, if I were ever challenged to a karaoke duel, I would win just for my enthusiasm!
“Party In the USA” by Miley Cyrus
Oh, gosh. Here comes the eye rolling! No, no! Wait, you guys! Just remember Miley as the upbeat Hannah Montana and give it another listen. It’s catchy, right?! Okay, you may not be convinced. But I’ll gladly play this in my car any day – windows down and with the volume up to 11!
“Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
This folksy, lovey-dovey tune is now my all-time favorite. I sometimes play it two or three times in a row because my five-year-old likes to sing along, and that’s happiness galore!
“Shiny Happy People” by R.E.M.
I’m going to admit that I don’t like R.E.M. – at all. But THIS song is exactly what it says it is, shiny and happy all rolled into one! I broke down and added it to my list because I always catch myself trying to sing along at some point.
“Semi-Charmed Life” by Third Eye Blind
The lyrics aren’t exactly happy, per se. But the tune is catchy, and I credit the music video for this song with starting my obsession with vintage Vespas. Before I got into cars, I was tearing these old scooters down and building them back up. I’ve been on all kinds of rallies in San Francisco, back in the before days (before the wedding, before the kids) and it was a happy, happy time! (OF COURSE, it’s three times happier now!)
If you haven’t seen the new Hyundais and experienced the Blue Link technology yet, I think you should head over to Glenn Hyundai today and check it out! If you’ve been having a bad week, this will fix it right up, no doubt!
